Silk 'n Steel is a classic & modern rock band based in Daytona Beach, FL. Bourne in 2003 from the ashes of the popular Daytona band DeepSlick, Silk 'n Steel specializes in danceable rock hits of the 60's through today, with an emphasis on music from the 70's and 80's. While the band does play it's share of standards, Silk 'n Steel keeps the three-chord bar songs to a minimum. By including their audiences in their high-energy stage shows, the band has enjoyed a busy weekend schedule for nearly a decade, dating back to the DeepSlick days. Whether playing shows at local rock clubs, restaurants, sports pubs, biker bars/events, weddings, special events (the historic Daytona Bandshell), local government sponsored concerts (the cities of Port Orange, Daytona Beach, Deltona, Orange City, Florida) and international corporations (Kawasaki USA), Silk ‘n Steel has earned a respectable and loyal fan following through the years - although the band uses the term “fan” loosely... “We consider the people who come to see us our friends, not fans”, says the band's founding member Kevin Smith, who adds “because without them, we are nothing. That's something we will never forget”. When asked about personnel changes through the years, Kevin responds, "All of our former members have contributed to the success of Silk 'n Steel and they all remain a part of our family. But when a new member joins us, they bring a new, refreshing spin on our band, our songs, our shows and our attitudes. They then become an equal part of the history of the band, and Silk 'n Steel has naturally evolved into what I believe is one of our strongest lineups yet".
The band is fronted by the powerful lead vocals of their singer, the lovely and talented Gina Gambrazzio. A few years had passed since Gina fronted her last band "back home" in Massachusetts. Gina was a friend of the band and she sang a couple of songs with SNS at the end of a show. When the lead singer position became open, the band hired Gina on the spot. Gina is the perfect example to show that fronting a band is a lot like riding a bike - you never forget how to do it, no matter how long in-between.
Completing the band's lineup are founding member Kevin Smith (DeepSlick) on drums/vocals,
Tom Payette (Glenn Bailey Band, Munch) on guitar/vocals,
Jimmy Damien (Big Puppies, Skin) on bass/vocals,
Michael Ryan (DeepSlick, Lifesize) on keyboards.
